Menternak Ketam Dalam Rumah

They say caring is sharing. Then I would like to share what I have learn during the weekend. If you are interested, then just participate, we require more farmers for the export market. The course was located in Adamson Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

A first time for me to be in this hotel although I knew where KL International was before. Not much of participant though, about 30 people I think. Not many aware of the advertisement as it was one inch square of size of ads in Harian Metro.Nevertheless, those who alert with this kind of business, they came here and learn the trick of how to rear Crabs in Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Tank. These are the wishful participants. Quite many huh?

Well, when you talk about crab, many will find that there is some kind of stigma or taboo that says most of brackish water crab are HARAM as they live in two different environment - water and land. But this Ketam Nipah or scientifically called as scylla serrata is indeed a real crab that lives in water, got gills for respiration and what differentiate it with Ketam Batu is the Flipping Leg. The last rear legs is meant for swimming. The Ketam Batu, all the legs are sharp pointed, mainly for walking, therefore HARAM. I think enough about Halal and Haram... lets go on how to "ternak" this crustacean creature.

Its not that hard actually. They found this tecnique in Denmark. As we speak, they already made an automatic system that allows less supervision, while us here, still need to attend the KETAM in daily basis and traditionally feed them. But somehow, we put them in tanks with the flow of salty water, credit goes to the Denmark brain and technology. So, yes, we can have a set of 120 ekor of Ketam in our house, room, backyard of anywhere we think suitable. One set is RM6,000 and can accomodate a prison like tank for each of 120 crabs.

How is the market for Ketam Nipah. I tell u, its about RM28.00 per kilo. This program would require a participant to breed up until 500gram. So, if 120 ekor, then it would be errrr, RM1,500 for two months. That's the gross output la.... not yet subtracting the cost of rolling capital and such. Still dalam sebulan tu dapat la RM500.00.

The best ever business I have found so far. I've been to many courses and paper work - Vanilla, Cacing, Keli, Lembu, Kambing... but none can give me a handsome income in just two months PLUS with little capital.... Wa cakap lu, this business is very good one!!!

We were all surprise to see that the organizer even brought some living model into the hall. This one is just one month old... I mean only "satu kali bersalin kulit" (first moulting). The participant will have to take care of the Ketam up until they moulting for second time. Then when the Crab reach almost 500gram, then it will be taken for sale or export to Singapore or Shanghai or whenever la.

Can't wait to start. Yang sakit nyer, satu set tangki tu RM6,000........ any sponsor?Bank Pertanian kot. My conclusion is that - my search for side income business ended here. I have found the better deal. I may start this anytime now, until it stable, then I will go for next better business.
